Call for Volunteers


We invite passionate and reliable Student Volunteers to help us run the ICT4S 2020 conference taking place online (instead of physically in Bristol) this June. As a result, student volunteers are even more crucial for making the conference a success. Being a student volunteer at ICT4S is a great way to meet other students and academics in this wide research field. We strongly encourage you to use this event to build your professional network.

What is in it for you?

  • Free registration to the conference including the opportunity to listen to some presentations
  • An opportunity to network with other students and leading researchers
  • An opportunity to be a part of the first online ICT4S conference!
  • What we ask of you

  • Must be enrolled as a PhD, Masters or full-time undergraduate at the time of the conference
  • Must have good communication skills in English
  • Experience using teleconferencing and document sharing such as Google Docs
  • 5 part-days of volunteering during the conference
  • Provide technical assistance remotely to attendees in connecting to the online platform
  • Provide technical assistance remotely to speakers during presentations
  • Provide assistance for attendees with special needs
  • Note: ✢ Student Volunteers will NOT travel for this conference. Training will be provided to the volunteers on the use and troubleshooting of the conference tools. Throughout the conference, the student volunteers will also be assisted by IT support, if necessary.

  • Arrange for a letter of reference from your academic supervisor or other faculty member to be emailed to the Student Volunteer Chair, Yael Zekaria yz14091@bristol.ac.uk with the subject:
    “ICT4S 2020 - Student Volunteer Reference Letter for [YOUR NAME]”
    The letter should cover your organizational skills, willingness to help, proficiency in English, and anything else that will help us select you as a student volunteer.
